Box Installation, Melbourne

Box was designed as a dynamic installation for Melbourne based fashion label MATERIALBYPRODUCT. The installation takes on the form of a delivery box, which opens out to reveal a series of folding panels. Once opened out Box reveals itself to become a portal and runway to showcase the new seasons collection. Models walk through the frame, while the folding panels can be adjusted to provide a backdrop to the collection.

A hanging rail inside Box provides a space for clothes from the collection to be hung and to be showcased in the boutique after the show. The panels can then be folded away into the box and closed neatly away for ease of transport or storage when not in use. This multifunctional yet compact approach reflects a thoughtful and deft collaboration between Megan Atkins, MATERIALBYPRODUCT & Robert Simeoni Architects.
